In the words of the artist, “Life as I see it, is a collectively growing experience birthed by history. Your and I’s daily events are ever exponentially evolving upon all that which has preceded. Each occurence is part cause, part effect and part chance, part choice in randomly fluctuating ratios”.
Every individual is responsible for finding one’s own purpose in life, in whatever manner that’s best fitting, and within this subjective process questions of personal value often arise. “Worth While” is an exhibition featuring the work of four artists who explore this area of uncertainty with an emphasis on affirmation in art and the use of one’s practice as a sort of self-help ritual.

Chris Edwards, a recent MFA graduate from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago, is an artist working within the realm of pop culture, rethinking trends and icons of the past and present and reconfiguring them to fit within the context of his practice. Visually his work takes the form of direct and colorful collages and paintings that bring up ideas of materiality and editing in his process, but what runs throughout the entire work is a heavy emphasis on comedy.
